An infrared sauna uses lower temperatures provided by infrared light (within the average range of 100-140 degrees) to heat up the body from the inside compared to a higher temperature convection style traditional sauna (with average ranges of 180-200 degrees) that heat the air around you.

We have a far infrared sauna that is perceived by the body as heat only. Far infrared light penetrates the skin to target muscle, joints, detoxification and sweating to clean out the body.

When it comes to overall health and getting in a quick sauna session, hotter does not always mean better. The infrared style sauna is suggested to be more comfortable and healthier than a traditional hot air sauna because the lower temperature allows people to tolerate the effects for a longer period of time.

Some of the benefits that come with infrared sauna sessions can include:
Improves overall quality of sleep
Weight loss (There is evidence that in a 30 min infrared sauna session, up to 600 calories can be burned.)
Increases metabolism
Helps promote relaxation
Increases circulation
Lowers blood pressure
Alleviates joint pain
Increased range of motion
Supports relief of chronic health problems
Improves muscle recovery & exercise tolerance

Conditions that are well supported by infrared sauna therapy:
Fibromyalgia
Rheumatoid arthritis
Chronic fatigue syndrome
Sports injuries and other chronic pain
Headaches
Depression/Anxiety
Insomnia

While there needs to be continued use of the sauna to maximize your overall health benefits, the great thing is that there are benefits that can be noticeable even right after your first sauna session. These can include toxin detoxification through sweat, better range of motion, and having an overall more positive mood.

Sweating usually occurs after the first 10-15 minutes of entering the sauna. Some individuals may notice that it takes more time to sweat, as a result of your body adapting to the environment or other factors including your overall hydration levels. That’s why it’s extremely important to stay hydrated in order to facilitate healthy sweat levels and have your body working optimally.

Your immune system is constantly going up against an arsenal of toxins that our ancestors never dreamt of; pesticides, toxic metals, PCBs in plastics, environmental pollution, and even GMOs (genetically modified organisms). Combining this with a lifelong poor diet is a set-up for accumulated toxins and a potentially weakened immune system. Health Mate infrared saunas aid in the elimination of pesticides, metals, BPAs and other toxins in your body. During the colder months, the infrared sauna is a great way to warm up and safe healthy.

According to the Journal of the American Medical Association, regular use of a sauna compares to the same cardiovascular effect of running. Infrared sauna use heats your body directly which in turn raises your core body temperature as your body absorbs the infrared heat. This boosts your cardiovascular, lymphatic and immune systems creating a fat based sweat to help your body detox. Using your Health Mate sauna allows you to eliminate toxins while energizing your body in a safe, comfortable way.

According to the CDC, during the 2017-2018 season, the percentage of deaths attributed to pneumonia and influenza was at or above the epidemic threshold for 16 consecutive weeks. With a Health Mate infrared sauna you can naturally induce an artificial fever, similar to what your body does when infection strikes. This artificial fever (raise of your core temperature) triggers your body to release T & B cell (White blood cells) that target any bacteria or other microorganisms within your body before they make you sick.

If more restful sleep is what your body needs, an evening sauna session is for you. Following a body temperature increase (such as that from the sauna, or a hot bath), the subsequent cooling of your body signals relaxation that helps you achieve more restful sleep! Sleep is when your body heals itself. Better sleep means healthier immune system.
